Description

Late 18th century with later alterations. Single storey and attic, 2-bay rectangular-plan, asymmetrical cottage, built on ground rising steeply to W. Harled. Eaves course.

N (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: deep-set modern timber door at ground in bay to centre. Window in bay to right.

S (REAR) ELEVATION: window set low at ground to outer right.

E (SIDE) ELEVATION: 2-bay gabled wall. Window at ground with non-aligned attic window above in bay to right. Window at ground din bay to left. Gablehead stack above.

W (SIDE) ELEVATION: single bay gabled wall. Attic window to left; gablehead stack above.

4-pane timber-framed windows with top-hung upper lights. Graded Caithness slate; stone ridge; rooflights to S pitch; harled corniced gablehead stacks to E and W; uPVC rainwater goods.

INTERIOR: not seen, 1997.

Statement of Interest

The Khyber pass is an excellent example of the closes and lanes which link the main street and shore with the houses on the hillside to the west.
