Description

18th century. Single storey and cellar 2-bay cottage in poor condition, with forestair to High Street. Painted rubble. Painted rubble sorestair with iron railings. Door to left flanked by window and with lower door to outer left. Grey slates.

Statement of Interest

Historically important as a remmant of the 18th century houses with forestairs which then characterised Wigtown, grouped with its neighbours, 30 and 32 High Street, each also with forestair. McIlwraith, writing in 1877, commented on the forestair feature of some of the houses.
