Early 19th century, probably reworking an 18th century cottage, now 2-storey 3-bay house with forestair and gabled rear wing. Whinstone rubble with granite dressings, harled to High Street elevation. Forestair with harled parapet added. Door at centre, flanked by windows at ground and windows to each outer bay at 1st floor; secondary door to outer left. Tall gabled rear wing on higher ground with 1st floor window and evidence of former outbuilding abutting at ground. Plate glass sash and case windows. Modern flat-tiled roofing material. Broad end stacks. Plastic rainwater goods.
The retention of the forestair adds interest to this property, which forms a group with its neighbours, 28 and 32 in closing the High Street. McIlwraith, writing in 1877, commented on the forestair feature of some of the houses.
