Description

Circa 1780; later additions including rebuild, 1977. 4-storey 3-bay classical office (formerly house). Droved cream sandstone ashlar with polished dressings. Roman Doric pilastered doorcase to left with 3-pane fanlight; glazed inner door with radiating fanlight. 3rd storey added. Glass curtain wall with dry-dashed strip to rear.

Timber sash and case 12-pane windows to front.

INTERIOR: considerably altered to form modern office.

Statement of Interest

Listed at Category B as a significant surviving part of the original fabric of Edinburgh?s New Town, one of the most important and best preserved examples of urban planning in Britain.
