Description

Early 19th century; subsequent additions and alterations. 4-storey and attic 3-bay offices on corner site. Coursed cream sandstone rubble with red ashlar at ground. At ground, corniced architraved door flanked by tripartite windows. 5-bay 3rd floor and mansard attic later additions. Rubble gable end originally 2-bay; extra storey and extra bay added to S. 3-storey and attic 3-bay rear.

Timber sash and case 12-pane windows. Ashlar coped skews; grey slates; rubble stacks.

INTERIOR: modern office interior.

Statement of Interest

A Group with Nos 32-68 (even nos) Thistle Street as part of Edinburgh?s New Town, one of the most important and best preserved examples of urban planning in Britain. Thistle Street was built as plainer artisan dwellings and workshops and has survived with few significant alterations.
