Dated 1877 with later additions and alterations. 3-storey, 2-bay terraced tenement, commercial at ground. Bull-faced sandstone with polished ashlar dressings; whinstone rubble with stugged ashlar dressings to rear. Cill course at 1st and 2nd floors; eaves course.
SE (HIGH STREET) ELEVATION: symmetrical. Roll-moulded broad windows at ground to centre with corbels supporting fascia; bipartite window at 1st floor above with shouldered arches to lights; trefoil-headed window at 2nd floor above in gablehead breaking eaves, bipartite small windows to centre. Roll-moulded round-arched opening flanking bays at ground- door to outer left, plate glass rectangular fanlight, datestone at 1st floor; pend-opening to outer right, monogram at 1st floor.
NW ELEVATION: full-height projection to centre with further modern single storey addition linking modern 2-storey outer addition.
Plate glass timber sash and case windows to upper storeys; fixed plate glass windows at ground. Slate roof. Ashlar coped stack.
INTERIOR: not seen, 1995.
There was a building on this site in 1823. A photograph by AR Edwards from circa 1890 shows that this building has not been altered on the High Street elevation since that time.
