1822 with later alterations. 2-storey, 6-bay mirrored pair of terraced town houses. V-jointed polished sandstone ashlar rustication at ground floor; polished sandstone ashlar band between ground and 1st floors; droved sandstone ashlar at 1st floor. Base course; band course between ground and 1st floors; cill course at 1st floor; cornice and blocking course at eaves.
E (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: No 10 (to left): deep-set timber panelled door with rectangular fanlight at ground floor in bay to right; window at 1st floor above and in each bay of all floors to left. No 8 (to right): identical, mirrored arrangement.
N AND S ELEVATIONS: obscured by adjoining buildings.
W ELEVATION: not seen 2000.
12-pane timber sash and case windows, with modern glazing (tilt and turn) at 1st floor to No 8. Grey slate roof; irregularly disposed rooflights to E pitch. Coped skews. Coped ashlar multi-flue ridge stack to right (N). Cast-iron rainwater goods.
INTERIORS: not seen 2000.
RAILINGS: dwarf wall with ashlar cope, mounted by replacement railings to street.
B-Group with 19-25, 4 and 6, 12 and 12A, 14-18 and 2 Grove Street and 181 Morrison Street (see separate listings). These crisply rusticated town houses are part of a small terrace development which continues south to No 18, and north to No 2 (see separate list descriptions). No 10 has been stone cleaned.
