Later 19th century, or early 20th century with later alterations and additions. Single storey with attic, symmetrical 4-bay (total) pair of cottages. Roughly squared whinstone and sandstone rubble with stugged ashlar stop-chamfered sandstone dressings, and brick flush segmental relieving arch above each opening. Flush ashlar quoins.
S ELEVATION: 2 bays to centre advanced and gabled with bipartite window to each bay and to each bay in gablehead. Tripartite window in flanking bays. Lean-to wing set back to each outer with boarded door to S elevation.
E AND W ELEVATIONS: identical with 2 windows at ground of lean-to wing and bipartite window to gablehead above.
N ELEVATION: lean-to rubble with stugged dressings single storey addition to each cottage, to inner bays, with boarded door with glazed upper panel to each inner return; with later harled continuing addition to each outer bay.
Timber sash and case windows to S, E and W elevations with plate glass lower case and 4-pane upper case. Variety of windows to rear. Slate roof with 2 modern brick ridge stacks between inner and outer bays. Exposed rafters at eaves.
INTERIOR: not seen, 1996.
GARDEN WALL AND RAILINGS: sandstone roughly squared and stugged wall with concrete coping and cast-iron simple railings with orb-headed uprights and square-plan, pyramidal-headed gatepiers.
