INTERIOR: not seen 1997.
An impressive, plain farmhouse which has retained the majority of its original features, including its 4-pane fanlight, consoled doorpiece and timber sash and case windows. Rutherfurd includes West Newton (or Whitsome West Newton as it was then known) in his 1866 Directory. The surrounding steading is not included in this listing. However, some of the outbuildings are notable, particularly the long pantiled range (which includes an implement shed) to the E of the house.
