Statement of Interest

The studios lie to the rear and within the boundary walls containing a 16th century dovecot (see separate list description). On 31 October 1911 Heatley Dickson of the Corstorphine estate granted to the 4th Marquess of Bute an area of ground in Dovecot Road near to but excluding the historic dovecot. The idea of a tapestry workshop to weave tapestries for the Bute family homes, came from the 3rd Marquess who died in 1906.
