Description

Earlier to mid 19th century. Single storey, L-plan former stable block with separate single storey, mono-pitched outbuildings to E. Whinstone rubble; polished and droved red sandstone dressings (some cream sandstone dressings to N outbuilding). Sandstone quoins; long and short sandstone surrounds to openings.

W RANGE, E (COURTYARD) ELEVATION: 5-bay. Boarded timber door off-set to right of centre; single windows in remaining 2 bays to right. 2-leaf boarded timber carriage doors in 2 bays to left.

N RANGE, S (COURTYARD) ELEVATION: 3-bay. Replacement timber door centred at ground; 3-pane fanlight; flanking single windows. Square-headed gateway in screen wall adjoined to outer right.

INTERIOR: not seen 1997.

6- and 9-pane top-hopper timber glazing; small 9-pane skylights. Grey slate piended roof; raised stone skew breaking E range; cast-iron rainwater goods.

OUTBUILDINGS, W (COURTYARD) ELEVATIONS: large, square-headed opening centred in outbuilding to S; blind elevation to outbuilding to N. Corrugated-iron roofs to both.

Statement of Interest

Originally contained within the boundary of the nearby former manse, Lintonlee. Relatively intact, this L-plan range is now owned by Linton Church and is used occasionally by the local community.
