Description

Earlier 19th century. 3-storey and attic, 3 bay classical style terraced tenement with shop and public house at ground. Painted render. Base course; flanking pilasters to openings at ground in building to right form cornice above; cornice. Roll moulded frames to upper-floor openings. Gabled dormers.

SW (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: door to tenement at centre, pilastered with colonnettes and cornice; corniced fascia to shop to right, formerly with door and window, door now also window; corniced fascia to door and shop to left. Regular fenestration to 1st floor. 2 single windows at centre to 2nd floor; single windows flanking. 3 dormers at attic.

Modern windows. Grey slate roof. Cast-iron rainwater goods.

INTERIORS: not seen 1997.

Statement of Interest

A good example of earlier 19th century building which forms a part of the important Church Street landscape. Of particular note is the doorpiece to No17.
