Description

Later to late 19th century. Near square-plan walled garden with chamfered angle to NW forming 5-sided whole (approximately 2,500m?). Coped and swept walls with heavily pointed sandstone rubble to outer elevations; tooled quoins; tooled long and short surrounds to square-headed openings; red-brick inner linings. Boarded timber doors throughout; central and outer paths intact. Lean-to corrugated-iron potting shed to S.

Statement of Interest

Forms part of the Bonkyl Lodge estate - see separate list entry for the associated gate lodge. A relatively late, but well-detailed, unusually-shaped walled garden which remains fundamentally intact. The retention of the red brick inner linings, boarded timber doors and central path is particularly notable.
