Description

Probably 18th century with later alterations. Single storey, near rectangular-plan range adjoining separate 2-storey property to E. Harl-pointed rubble; weathered rubble dressings. Sandstone quoins; some long and short surrounds to openings.

SW (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: 2-bay. Boarded timber door at centre; single window to right.

NW (SIDE) ELEVATION: 5-bay. 2-leaf boarded timber door at centre; bipartite windows in remaining bays to left and right (timber frames, cills and lintels).

NE (REAR) ELEVATION: blind.

12-pane glazing in timber windows. Pantiled, piended roof.

INTERIOR: not seen 1999.

Statement of Interest

Marked as a smithy on the 1858 OS map. Now (1999) in use as a workshop and associated with Woodbine Cottage to its S. Originally associated and listed with the adjoining Crossgate House - itself now in separate ownership and listed separately, see 'Coldingham, School Road, Crossgate House'.
