Description

Ornate cast-iron street lamp, painted turquoise and gilded, with fluted concave curved base, guilloche and acanthus leaf mouldings, cross bar and glass lantern, surmouted by cast-iron Edinburgh City Arms.

Statement of Interest

Marks the residence of Kenneth Borthwick, Lord Provost of Edinburgh, 1977-80. Prior to the 1975 Local Government (Scotland) Act both Lord Provosts and Baileys were entitled to 2 official standard lamps outside their residences.
