Dated 1791 on ashlar lintel above square-headed gated entrance. Partially concealed turf covered domed chamber forming wellhead set in grounds of Callendar House. Red brick lined inner chamber.

The wellhead formed an integral part of the estate and would have contributed to the delivery of fresh water to Callendar House. It is an important piece of engineering constructed at a time when facilities at country houses were increasing greatly in sophistication.
