Description

Before 1780. 4-storey attic and basement, 4 bay classical ashlar tenement. Roman Doric column doorpiece.

Statement of Interest

The northwest end of Buccleuch Street was laid out by James Brown as a continuation of his development plan for George Square and Buccleuch Place. The feus appears to have been developed concurrently with those on Buccleuch Place which were sold from 1779. The tenements at 10, 12 Buccleuch Street are visible on the 1804 Ainslie Map of Edinburgh as the earliest buildings constructed on the west side of Buccleuch Street.

Listed building record and statutory address updated (2015). Previously listed as '10, 12 Buccleuch Street'.
