The Old Quad has recently been resurfaced with a lawn and paving replacing the gravel car park. The cost of £1 million was met by a gift from an anonymous donor.
An archaeological dig was done prior to work. This found remains of the Kirk O'Fields, Hamilton House, the first university library built in 1617 and the remains of the original lab of Joseph Black.
