History

An early C18 dovecote probably contemporary with the house, which is first mentioned c1725.

Exterior

A brick dovecote with hipped slate roof. The upper level has a rounded-headed opening to the loft with replaced wooden pigeon holes and ledges. In the R side wall are 2 doorways to the lower storey under segmental heads and with boarded doors. The rear end wall has a boarded loft door offset to the L side, below which is a replaced window in an earlier segmental-headed opening.

Interior

Not inspected at time of survey, but 1962 description refers to multi-seater privy in ground floor.

Reasons for Listing

Listed as a rare well-preserved early dovecote, and for group value with the house.
