History

Early C19.

Exterior

Symmetrical 3-storey 3-window house with central entrance. Constructed of painted brick under a slate roof with renewed brick end stacks; moulded eaves cornice; random stone plinth to L. The windows are 12-pane hornless sashes to ground and 1st floors, 3-over-6-pane sashes to 2nd floor, all under cambered heads. Moulded wooden doorcase, the pilasters with fluted capitals supporting an open dentilled triangular pediment. Round-arched doorway with inset panelled door, fanlight with radial glazing, and panelled reveals. Above entrance to 1st floor, a flat-roofed oriel window on curved brackets with 12-pane horned sash to front, and side-lights. East gable end has 4-pane horned sash offset to L of 1st and 2nd floors, ground floor not seen. Rubble boundary wall adjoins SE angle, and fronts Record Street. West gable end adjoins rear wing of 15 Castle Street. Rear has small lean-to (seen from No 15).
