Exterior

Built as a single house but at one time subdivided. Now once again a single commercial unit to ground floor, with separate offices (part of 40-42) above. First noted as a shop in 1757, the present building is probably late C18, though extensively renewed. Brick with some stone dressings and slate roof. 3 storeys, 3 window range, with C20 shop fronts to ground floor, and 12-pane sash windows above, with painted stone heads with stressed voussoirs. Modillion cornice below parapet. End wall stacks.
