The Parish of Rhosddu was created in 1886, formed by Rhosddu, Stansty, Rhosnesni and Acton along with parts of Gwersyllt and Gresford. The population was 4,890. (Encyclopaedia of Wrexham, W Alister Williams).
Along with Rhosddu School, Prices Lane, the Vicarage and St James' Church are probably the oldest buildings in Rhosddu still standing.
