History

Early C18 with an early C20 shopfront. This building probably began as a house and adapted to commercial use in the C19.

Exterior

Painted stucco with raised quoin pilasters and window architraves, Welsh slate roof. Three storeys and attic, two windows. The windows have moulded architraves and 6 over 6 pane sashes. Early C20 plain shop front with later tiled stall-riser, ribbed pilasters and plain fascia. Steeply pitched roof with a single gabled dormer with casement, now blanked off, rebuilt red brick ridge stack to left.
Rear elevation has a full width and height gabled wing with a blind rear wall.

Included for its special architectural interest as a well preserved Georgian style historic building in the Monmouth town centre.
