History

Late C18, interior datestone 1789. Stands on the edge of the former dry dock which silted up in mid C19. Site also for pleasure trips on the river. Formerly known as The Chepstow Boat.

Exterior

Inn. Walls roughcast rendered and painted; steep-pitched slate roof with brick end and lateral stacks. Three storeys. Two-window range of 6-pane casements widely spaced. Central gabled porch with segmental-arched doorway, renewed door. An anchor is attached to the wall at front right.

Interior

Interior retains low ceiling, flag floor.

Reasons for Listing

Listed as a late C18 Inn retaining its character. Group value with other listed buildings in The Back and St Ann's Street.
