Ca 1800 late Georgian
3-storey, 2-window coursed rubble front with slate roof and pebbledash stack to right hand gable end. 9 and 12 pane sash windows, with slate lintels to 1st floor. Good Victorian shop front with fluted fascia end brackets, ramped fascia, bracket cornice and end pilasters; brick stallriser. 18 pane shop window to right, window inserted into former central doorway and two doorways to left, that to the shop is in simple Art Nouveau style. Later cross range to left and oriel window with marginal glazing bars.
Interior has beamed ceilings and stone flagged floors. In large cellars the former holding cell, for the Old Town Hall opposite, is retained with the indented marks of 3 seats clearly definable. Segmental arch brick vaulted chamber may represent the end of a former underground passage connecting with the Old Town Hall and Gaol.
