Built in 1816 contemporary with the school, and shown on the 1829 town plan.
A coped rubble-stone wall with iron railings. Entrances at either end have replacement iron gates leading to stone steps. At the L end (No 7) are 2 coursed-stone square gate piers. At the R end (No 9) is a single similar pier on the L side only, as the R side abuts the adjoining house (No 11 Steeple Lane). A higher return wall is on the L side facing Bunkers Hill.
Listed for its special interest as well-preserved gate piers and railings and as an integral component of the former National School (Nos 7-9 Steeple Lane).
