C19 paving to former stables, originally built in 1807 apparently for Sir William Paxton, altered in C19 as stables for the White Lion and Cobourg hotels, owned after 1883 by the White Lion hotel.
Cobbled setts of granite and grey limestone laid with square setts at NE end of yard with stone-framed drain, then rougher cobbles sloping from each side down to centre line of long thin setts sloping down to drain. More random larger setts at further end of yard.
Included as an important part of the setting of the mews buildings.
