History

Part of the original early C19 town plan when the harbour area was developed; shown on ca 1845 Tithe Map.

Exterior

Group of 2-storey, 3-window simple classical fronts, roughcast to Nos 2 to 4, scribed render to No 1 and plain render to No 5, with later C19 ornamentation; end pilaster strips, rusticated quoins and cill band. Slate roofs, 3 rubble (1 heightened in brick) and 2 rendered chimney stacks. Sash windows, with glazing bars to first floors of Nos 1, 2 and 5; architraves (lugged to Nos 3 and 5) and ornamental keystones to Nos 1, 3 and 5; 2 splayed bays with sash glazing to ground floor of No 1 with lean-to slate roof and rope moulded cornice; 2-pane sash windows to No 2 ground floor and throughout No 4; modern windows to No 3. 12-pane sash windows with lugged architraves and ornamental keystones to No 5. Similar detail to doorway with panelled doors. Plain roughcast right end wall with garage extension with boarded doors.
