Milestone erected c1815 as part of the new London to Holyhead road improvements (now the A5), designed and implemented by Thomas Telford, engineer.


Tapered milestone of dressed and tooled stone, with chamfered base and edges, and triangular head. Inset cast iron plaque with, in raised lettering: 'Holyhead 47, Capel Curig 7M - 5F, Cernioge 6M - 6F'; no foundry marks visible, bench mark to base.

Reasons for Listing

Included for its special interest as one of the original milestones of Telford's important London to Holyhead road.
