History

Probably C18 or early C19.

Exterior

A vernacular bridge in local slate masonry, consisting of a single segmental arch of low rise, with a span of about 10 m. The voussoirs of the arch are rough stonework about 400 mm in height. Roughly axe-dressed masonry above, including the parapets; square string course at the base of the parapets.

The carriageway is about 4 m wide between the parapets, with a slightly humped profile. The parapets widen out at all four corners, three of them terminating in small piers.

Reasons for Listing

A well preserved mountain-stream vernacular bridge of characteristic low segmental upland form.
