History

A milestone probably erected in 1759 (the date is on another milestone in the series). A second milestone was added immediately behind it in the C19 which is shown on the 1889 Ordnance Survey.

Exterior

A roughly hewn stone block painted white, with inscription in black-painted letters, 'To the WELLS 2', and 'To Builth V'. Placed behind it is a freestone marker with segmental top, painted white, inscribed in black letters 'Builth 5 miles' and 'Newtown 29'.

Reasons for Listing

Listed for its special historic interest as part of a series of well-preserved C18 and C19 milestones on the A483 between Llandrindod Wells and Builth Wells.
