PLAN: RCHME gives a typical plan (p.356) showing a transverse
central dogleg stair to 2 principal rooms at each level, and a
service wing; several units have a ground-floor shop.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys, attic and basement, 1 or 2 windows to
each. All have a continuous moulded cornice, continuous
through the oriels, blocking-course and coped parapet. Nos 60
& 61 have each a flat-roofed dormer above a bowed oriel; that
to No.60 has plain sashes, and a full-width C19 shop front,
No.61 retains glazing bars to all 3 floors, a small light set
back to the basement, and an arched doorway to the left, on 4
stone steps. Each house has deep stacks to the right party
wall.
The remaining houses each have 2 dormers above a window plus
oriel at each level; No.62 has plain sashes, and a bow
replaced by a canted oriel, with a full-width C19 shop front
with large consoles, but late C20 window. Nos 63 & 64 are the
best retained externally, each having 2 dormers above 9 and
12-pane sashes to flush moulded boxes, and 6:9:6 above
8:12:8-pane bows. Ground floor is a C20 display front across
the double property.
A rendered ridge stack to each end, and the rear includes
dormer windows and sashes; the lower floors are concealed by
later infill brought out to the St Mary Street frontage.
No.65 has 2 dormers, glazing-bar sashes to first and second
floors, and a simplified display window in 3 broad panes with
transom to the ground floor, below which is a set-back light
to the basement. To the left, in an arch in 2 orders, is a C20
door with plain fanlight on 5 stone steps. There are ridge
stacks to the right.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
