Barn. C16. Timber frame on red brick sill, dark weatherboarded with
steep old red tile roof. A tall 4-bays barn facing E. Jowled posts and
mid-height rails in-line. Long curved braces to cambered tie beams.
Clasped-purlin roof with 2 purlins in each slope. Long lower collar
with queen-struts to upper collar. Curved wind-braces to lower purlin,
long straight wind-braces to upper purlin. Flat-laid rafters. Holes for
wattles on soffit of wallplates. Edge-halved scarf joint with bridled
butts in wallplate.
