This remarkable round house, which is on the A510 road north of Finedon was built after the Battle of Waterloo following a visit by the Duke of Wellington to Woodford House. Here he remarked that the local landscape reminded him of the battlefield at Waterloo. The building, which commemorates that battle, dates from around 1820, and was initially used as a wayfarers inn. It is now a part of the adjacent farm.
