Row of 3 small houses, now 4. Probably C17 and early C18, re-modelled early C19.
Marlstone rubble and coursed squared marlstone with some ashlar dressings;
thatch and Stonesfield-slate roofs with part-rendered limestone-ashlar stacks.
One- and 2-unit plans. storeys plus attic. 2 bays to extreme right of main
range (No.43), in coursed stone, are probably C17 and include a 3-light
stone-mullioned window with label and 2 old 3-light first-floor casements.
Doorway, with chamfered basket-arched surround below label with carved lozenge
stops, plus small window to right may be early C19. Nos.44 (2 bays) and 45 (one
bay), in rubble, are later and have similar doorways to No.43; ground-floor
casements, of 2 and 3 lights, have chamfered stone surrounds with labels, and at
first floor are three 2-light casements with wooden lintels. Main roof has three
2-light roof dormers with stone-slate aprons and 2 ridge stacks. All windows
have lattice glazing, some very old. Lower slated bay to right of main range,
with a flat-arched entrance, is now No.43A. Interiors not inspected.
