Prospect column. 1853, in memory of Thomas Samuel Jolliffe. By Joseph Jopling. Ashlar. Tapering cylindrical column, "a
curious object, more like a lighthouse or a very big candelstick than a column, surmounted by a cage ornamented with
stained glass", now virtually all missing; height approximately 50 m. Pedestal square on plan with semi-circular head
door opening, now blocked and 3 corresponding incised stone tablets, one in English, one French, and one Latin
commemorating Jolliffe; windows at the angles. Terraced base reached by 4 sets of stone steps, curved balustrades.
