II

Barn. Datestone in south wall "1659 RW" probably reset from gable during
re-roofing in early C19. Red brick walls of irregular bond on flint and brick
plinth; old plain-tile roof; 4 bays. Double plank doors to left of centre, and
to rear. Upper part of walls rebuilt in C19 brick. End walls above eaves level
rebuilt in weather-boarded timber-framing when extant queen post half-hipped
roof constructed. From the original roof structure 6 wooden corbels supporting
arch braces to the tie beams survive. Attached to the south wall is a 3-bay
early C19 open cart shed, timber framed, with old plain-tile roof half-hipped to
south. Included as a rare survival in this area of C17 brickwork used for an
agricultural building.
