Wall monument with slate Epitaph To Thomas Stavelie. From our last being we beginning have/ The sound of Honour is the silent Grave/ Cittyes consume and deeds of men doe die/ And out of Ashes come AEternity/ Read and remember never did you view/ So faire Example and a Phrase so true/ Here lieth Thomas Staveleie Esq. Lord of the Mann. Of East and West Langton who married Mar/gery The eldest Daugh: of Arthur Brooke of Great Oakley in the County of North: Esq. With whom he lived 49 yeares and by her had 5 Sons sc. Arthur, Thomas, Eusebie, William, Charles and 4 Daught: sc. Katherine, Anne, Elizabeth and Temperance who departed this life the 11th of June 1631 Shield: Quarterly of six (1): Argent on a chevron azure between three lozenges sable as many bucks heads cabossed or (Staveley), 2): Argent a chevron between three eagles displayed gules (Francis), 3): Azure a chevron ermine (Lodebroke), 4): Azure a cross flory between four martlets argent (Plessington), 5): Paly of six argent and azure (Strelley), 6): Or a fess dancettee sable (Vavasour, a quartering of Strelley) Impaling Or on a fess azure three escallopes of the field (Brooke of Oakley) Crest a bulls head cabossed.
