Inscription on the wall above Edmund Brudenell's Tomb.- Heare lieth buried ye bodie of Edmund Brudnell of Stanton Wivell, esquier, who departed this life the XIIth Maye 1590. A man that lyved in the yede (=deeply true) feare of God, a lover of hospitallitie, pitifull to the poore, a quieter of controversies in his contrie, beloved of his neighbours, learned in the lawes of the realme bothe civill and comon. He married Elizabeth, one of the daughters of William Burnell of Wickbourne in the countie of Nottingham, esquier, by whom he had two sonnes and two daughters: Agnes, Robert, Thomas and ffrances.
