Marble monument. Within a broken pediment, an urn topped with holy flames. To Rev John Smith, rector of Allexton and Thistleton parishes for 48 years. d. 17th Mar 1771. Unusually for the times, he lived in the parish. Latin epitaph -He lives beyond the Fane of Life-. (Photo Feb 2008).
