(Formerly listed as No 43 (Part of King Edward VI Grammar School), WESTGATE)

II GV

C18, 2-storey house, brick in Dutch bond; hipped roof of Westmorland slate. 5 windows, hung sashes with glazing bars in wide wooden cases almost flush with face, flat-arched heads and plain cills. A later extension at East end projects forward; the original front appears to have been 6 windows. Coved caves, stringcourse between storeys. Entrance approached by 3 stone steps. Wooden doorcase, 2 columns supporting triangular pediment. Square- headed doorways with moulded architrave, panelled reveals, soffit and door, all incised panels. Less conspicuous extension at West end. Now attached to The Limes (qv) by a modern extension.

Nos 25, 29 to 31 (odd), Westgate House, The Limes and Nos 43 to 47 (odd) form a group.
