House, now offices. Early C18 with later additions and
alterations. L-plan with entrance hall to left and stairwell
between front and rear rooms. Pinkish-brown brick in Flemish
bond with purple brick plinth, flat arches of gauged dark red
brick and ashlar sills, timber keystones and architrave; plain
tile roof; 2 right end brick stacks with pots; some
timber-framing to upper floors. 3 storeys with attic, 4
first-floor windows. Plinth. 3-course first- and second-floor
bands, that to first floor interrupted by doorcase. 2/2 horned
sashes to ground and first floors, 6/6 sashes to second floor,
all in flush frames and with flat arches of gauged brick,
keystones with raised and fielded panel and sills. Wide
moulded cornice. Left entrance, of late C18: 6-flush-panel
door with decorative panels, fluted frieze and fanlight with
ornate glazing bars; Pilastered doorcase has lozenge motif and
open dentil cornice. 3-course first- and second-floor bands.
INTERIOR: openwell staircase to full height with wreathed
handrail, turned balusters, 2 per tread; skylight over. Ground
floor: front room has marble fireplace with shelf on corbels.
Attic has 2-raised-and-fielded-panel door and some exposed
timbers. Further staircase to roof space has stick balusters.
Roof space has wide floorboards and square panels of
timber-framing to gable end. Roof has 1 level of purlins and
rafters, some renewed, with bracing.
All the listed buildings in College Precinct (qqv) form a good
group and part of the setting for Worcester Cathedral (qv).
