House. c1800 with later additions and alterations including C20
raising to bays. Reddish-pink brick, in Flemish bond to front
facade with gauged red brick flat arches; ashlar cornice; hipped
plain tile roof and off-centre right brick stack with oversailing
course; timber doorcase; cast-iron balconettes. Double-depth plan
with central hallway and single-storey service range to rear at
left. Ground and first floors have 6/6 sashes, second floor has
3/3 sashes; all in plain reveals and with sills, flat arches.
Central entrance: 2 roll-edged steps (1 renewed) to 6-panel door
(lower panels flush beaded, upper panels raised and fielded),
fanlight with glazing bars; doorcase has fluted pilasters and
corn and ribbon motif to 'frieze', open pediment with lozenge
motif. Garden (left) return: 2 canted ground-floor bays, both
raised to 2 storeys, have 8/8 and 6/6 sashes and French windows,
all under flat arches. Rear has two 6/6 sashes to first floor,
6/4 staircase sash and two 3/3 sashes, all with plain reveals and
cambered arches. To rear the outer windows have balconettes with
embellished bars and ornate scroll motifs. Modillion eaves band.
Right return: blind opening to first and second floors with
cambered arches and ground-floor 6/6 sash with cambered arch.
INTERIOR: retains original plasterwork and joinery; hall has
frieze with fleur-de-lys motif; 6-panel doors with tooled
architraves; pull-up shutters. Pine fireplace c1730 introduced
probably C20. Bays have column cluster stanchions (introduced
c1990s). Room to left has cornice with floral motif and flitched
beam, bolection-moulded fireplace (introduced C20 came from
College Gates) with cast-iron grate (with view of iron bridge at
Coalbrookdale). To rear a fireplace with corbel brackets.
