Late C19. In style of Norman Shaw. Red brick with blue brick and white stone
dressings. Corner sexagonal banded tower. Slate roofs throughout, main one has
crested tiles. Tall chimneys irregularly placed. 3 storeys and 2 ranks of dormers,
lower rank through eaves and gabled, upper rank set in steeply pitched, high,
roof. 3 bays width to Roman Road. Ground floor has 3 shallow moulded white stone
arches over Fire Doors, separated by banded brick and stone buttresses. Above,
decorative red tiles with white stone band at 1st floor sill level. 3 sash windows
paired, under plain stone lintels. Blue brick band below 2nd floor windows which
have red brick gauged arches and blue brick bands above. Stone cornice below
lower dormers. Metal lettering on facade "Fire Brigade Station". Corner block
1 bay, windows in shallow arched brick recesses. Shield.
