Here resteth Sir Francis Carew Knight sonne and heire of Sir Nicholas Carew Knight of the Honorable order of the Garter, Maister of the horse, and privye Councellour to King Henry the VIII the said Sr Francis living unmaried adopted Sir Nicholas Throckmorton sonne of Anne Throckmorton his sister to be heire to his estate, and to beare his surname, and having lived LXXXI yeares, he in assured hope to rise in Christ ended this transitory life the XVI daye of Maye MDCXI
