Co-operative stores. 1906. Stone. Slate roof. 3 storeys (Basement floor in
western block). 8 bays. Ground floor has shop fronts under cornice with carved
art nouveau corbels illustrating co-operative movement. First floor has wide
windows with leaded lights in the heads, except for 4th bay where (over segmental-
arched entrance to arcade) there is a 4-light mullion and transom window with
wrought iron balcony railing. The 2nd floor windows are 3-light with transoms,
but the 2nd, 4th and 7th bays are distinguished by arched heads. 2nd and 7th bay
windows are Venetian. Mullions in pillar form. String continued over arch with
keystone. Shaped parapet with steep gables over the emphasised bays. Dome on short
colonnade stands over the junction with left return.
