Belvoir Angel headstone to William While 1728, Church of St Mary, Queniborough

Uploader's Comments

C18 Folk art by a follower of the local master craftsman. To William While, husband to Anne While died 17th Nov 1728 in the 56 year of his age. Angel has long straight hair. Wing feathers are rudimentary swags. Top of stone follows contour of wings. No verse. The inscription using the phrase -Husband to- very rarely appears on local C18 headstones, yet there is another in the churchyard for John Black husband to Anne Black and the date is also 1728.
