A substantial circa 1850-55 villa with coach house/stable court, on corner
site with Pakenham Road, terraced garden front overlooking long gardens along
Charlotte Road. Two storeys red brick with painted stone dressings. Virtually
square plan with 3 bay elevations. Plinth, 1st floor sill band; string course
below stucco frieze with console brackets to cornice, brick parapet with coping
carried round 3 principal elevations. Shallow centre break to each front.
The entrance and Pakenham Road fronts have plain painted stone surrounds to
window, the heads flanked by anthemion patterned consoles supporting cornices
on ground floor and with pediments over on 1st floor, the centre one in each
case segmental. Ionic column porch with dentil cornice and blocking course,
the doorway set in round headed architrave case, panelled soffit over fanlight.
On Pakenham Road the central 1st floor window has a blind balustrade rising
from the cornice of the ground floor window. The garden front has similar
details but with 2 canted pent roof bay windows on ground floor flanking round
healed garden door in architrave surround. Lower 3 bay service wing extends
to south with screen wall link. Three bay elevations to stable court with
central round arch window; coach house at right angle. Screen walls swept
down to corniced gate piers at yard entrance.
