SIR HARRY'S ROAD 1. Edgbaston B15 5104 Convent School of The Holy Child Jesus SP 0584 NE 49/7 II 2. Originally a C1830-40 Grecian 2 storey, 3 bay, stucco villa, much extended for school with a sympathetic large 3 bay wing to north east in related quoin pilastered style and a C20 brick and stone dressed substantial chapel wing to south west. The original villa elevation has coupled pilaster articulating bays on both floors with plinth, first floor entablature and main entablature. The centre bay is slightly advanced with pediment surmounted by an anthemion finial as are the terminal dies of the blocking course. The central first floor tripartite window is recessed in a Composite columned aedicule with an anthemion frieze. The flanking windows are of 2 lights, divided and flanked by pilasters supported entablatures. The right hand ground floor window is built out with a tripartite pilaster frame. Central projecting Tuscan pilaster with ground floor entablature broken forward over. Terraced rear garden elevation has similar details but with a central 2 storey canted bay. The interior has been much altered but retains original staircase off the north east side of the hall with a curved corner well top lit by an oval light, and behind the canted bay on the first floor a barrel vaulted gallery with arcaded walls, the lunettes containing stucco has reliefs from classical mythology.
