1907-9 by W H Bidlake. Red and blue brick with stone dressings; slate roof
with fleche over the crossing. West front with a big 5-light window in a
Decorated style above the sloping roof of what inside is seen to be the baptistry
and flanked by tall buttresses with 2 setoffs and crowned by gablets. The
baptistry is marked by a small 2-light window between buttresses panelled
in their upper parts. Left and right small porches. Nave with low passage-aisles
whose arcade is set within the tall arches that embrace the tall 4-light nave
windows above. North and south transepts of 2 bays, each divided by a central
pier with transverse arches. Chancel with arcading that leads north to the
good Shepherd Chapel and south to the vestry with organ-loft above. The original
altar (now in the south transept) has a carved reredos with frescoes by
F N Davies. Excellent wooden pulpit and choir stalls.
